On Friday I met with workers at 2 sisters for the third time. I have been personally meeting with employees at the Llangefni factory every two weeks since the company announced their 45 day consultation period.
I believe it is important politicians are even more visible when there are challenges in the community they represent, so I have and will continue to visit staff at 2 Sisters.
I thank all those who gave me a warm welcome at each visit and I will continue to liaise with the staff, the company and the Department for Work and Pensions so the workers have support and advice at this critical time
The threat of job losses for these people is a huge stress and I want to support them, hear and pass on their concerns and be a sounding board for them.
I have personally contacted a number of local employers โ Huws Gray, Mona Dairy`, Glanbia Cheese, Llangefni in Anglesey. Gwynedd Shipping ltd , Stena Line UKIE and others to ask for their help in considering 2 Sisters employees for potential opportunities.
The Employment Minister - Minister Guy Opperman MP is due to visit the Island - for the second time - in the next few weeks.
I and my team have been working hard to provide as much practical and quick support to those affected as possible.
If you or you know someone that needs my help please do get in touch
