Holyhead police officer PC Lisa Thomas was invited to a Downing Street reception this week by Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie to attend the Local Community Safety Champions’ Reception.
Lisa recruits for the Heddlu Bach programme as part of her job and was nominated to go by Virginia for her work in the town.
Lisa was able to meet security minister Tom Tugendhat and talk with other champions from around the country who were also being honoured at the event.
“It was a pleasure to take Lisa through No 10’s famous black door so we could celebrate the work she does in our community,” said Virginia.
“Lisa works hard to keep the community safe and particularly inspires young people in Holyhead. She is a credit to North Wales Police and the island she loves.”
Lisa said: “I was so very honoured and proud to be invited to Number 10 not only representing North Wales Police but also Holyhead.
“Since starting in Holyhead, I have been very lucky to have the support from our local partner agencies, businesses, and the local community for which I am very grateful.
“I have just recruited another 40 Heddlu Bach officers for Holyhead and the initiative is in its third year on Anglesey. My last team won the summer challenge - winning £1000 for their school.
“Thank you to Virginia for being so supportive and inviting me to the Local Community Safety Champions’ Reception.
