Last week upon being contacted by several concerned constituents, I wrote a letter to BCUHB to express my concern for constituents left without a dental practice and my disappointment in the lack of communication with patients following the closure of Preswylfa Dental Surgery.
As promised, below is the reply that I have received from them, which has confirmed that following an inspection of the practice by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales in August the practice was suspended from being able to see private patients due to a number of governance and patient safety issues. As a result, the Health Board also suspended services for NHS patients.
I have also contacted Denplan regarding the payments taken from patients and their reply was:
โI can confirm that we contacted all patients on 22nd September to inform them their plan was being cancelled and they have been refunded for their August and September 2022 payments.
We have extended the supplementary insurance offering to patients for 30 days following their letter, to provide run off emergency cover.โ
Diolch.
