Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis

The humanitarian crisis and war in Ukraine rages on. The UK government has continued to provide economic, humanitarian and defensive military assistance to Ukraine and sanctions on Russia and Belarus.

In Westminster I was privileged to meet with Vadym Prystaiko the Ukrainian Ambassador at Number 10 Downing Street. I also met with four incredible Ukrainian woman MPs and of course was present during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s historic address to the Commons.

There have been moving vigils held across the country, with Holyhead and Beaumaris and St Eleth all lit up in Ukraine colours by Sain a Goleuo MAD Sound and Lighting.

Our island is known for its compassion and community spirit, and it is therefore no surprise that so many want to help.

The UK government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme saw over 120,000 people register to help accommodate a refugee family, and I heard from many constituents like Rev Rob Wardle Anglesey Ministry Team leader offering his vicarage to refugees and James Trew at the Trecastell Hotel in Bull Bay offering accommodation and a job for a chef.

Our island’s businesses, large and small have come together with compassionate, imaginative, and inspiring ways to play their part in helping those affected. Pobl I Bobl are a local group who support refugees and have so far raised over £1,400 in a fundraiser set up to help grass roots organisations working directly on the Ukrainian border to provide emergency assistance.

Caffi Siop Mechell – Llanfechell staff decided that any tips given generously are being donated to the Ukraine appeal, as well as holding a raffle with the proceeds being donated. Anne & Ray from Jaspersparkle are donating £5 from each sale in March to the Red Cross Ukraine appeal and Happy Valley in Beaumaris also donated all their tips to the British Red Cross Ukraine appeal and organized an Easter Egg hunt in aid of the appeal. Of course there have been many more examples.

Schools, community groups and charities have rallied together to collect and donate much needed items for refugees. Care UK Charity – Twrcelyn Thrift shop sent one container full of essential aid, with the help from Colin and Anglesey Towing who took it to Chester where it will go straight to Poland.

If you would like to help with sponsoring a Ukrainian refugee or family please register on the UK Government #homesforUkraine website here  https://homesforukraine.campaign.gov.uk/

If you would like to donate – the DEC – Disaster Emergency Committee – is coordinating the efforts of over 15 charities including the Red Cross and Save the Children. All details are here – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal | Disasters Emergency Committee (dec.org.uk)

New UK Government Bill will help improve 4 and 5G mobile coverage on Ynys Môn

Since becoming the MP for Ynys Môn I have continually highlighted the issue of poor connectivity and broadband faced by my constituents. This month I attended an event organised by Speed Up Britain in Westminster, following which I am proud to be backing the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill. This Bill includes changes to the Electronic Communications Code to speed up the rollout of 4G and 5G in places like Anglesey in what could be a substantial boost to the local economy.

Backing this bill will enable improvements to happen more quickly on Anglesey through both the Shared Rural Network, which is set to deliver 4G coverage to 95% of the UK, and the next generation 5G technology. The pandemic has highlighted just how vital mobile connectivity is for the thousands of residents and businesses across Ynys Môn and patchy coverage causes frustration. Improving this infrastructure is a key priority, along with bringing jobs and investment to our island. I look forward to supporting the Bill and hope it will deliver these changes as quickly as possible.

If you have issues with connectivity or coverage, please let me know using the “Better Broadband Survey” on my website – Better Broadband Survey – Virginia Crosbie MP

Reading Alfie and the Dragon to Ysgol Caergeiliog for World Book Day

I was thrilled to be able to “zoom” into Caergeiliog Foundation School in Holyhead from Westminster to read Alfie and the Dragon to years 1, 2 and 3 for World Book Day. The book is written by island author Tony Roberts and features the tale of Alfie, a young boy who believes there could be dragons living in the Mynydd Tân of Caergybi.

It was amazing to see all the children dressed in costumes from their favourite books and they were full of questions about everything from life at Westminster to how I like my pancakes. “World Book Day is a really important event. The love of reading is something that lasts a lifetime and I hope my enthusiasm will spark that love in the children who listened so intently to the story. I had a brilliant time and I would like to thank the students and the staff for such a warm welcome!

International Women’s Day, SheInspires and being named “women to watch” in Westminster.

Tuesday 8th March was International Women’s Day, a day to honour women’s cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements. On my social media I celebrated some of our island’s very own inspirational women and girls in a video you can watch above. From Pageant participants Macy Grace, Layla Grace and Poppy to volunteers and community heroines like Jean Mayall, Debbie Carmichael and Anne Williams – you are all incredible!

On a personal level, International Women’s Day was a poignant day to be listed as one of 15 ‘women to watch’ by The House magazine in its Women in Westminster 100. The annual accolade celebrates the outstanding achievements of women in public life by recognising one hundred women who have achieved excellence in their sector in the world of Westminster, and fifteen future figureheads.

On top of that I was also delighted to be announced as one of the ambassadors for the prestigious 2022 SheInspires Awards. The SheInspires awards are a celebration of women from all areas of life and from all parts of the UK and the world. From joining the Women and Equalities Committee in March 2020 and being the Director of Women2Win as well as setting up “Make it Your Business” to inspire women on Anglesey into entrepreneurship, I have been a long-standing supporter of empowering and encouraging women and equal opportunities.

P&O to be held accountable

We have all been shocked by the despicable actions of P&O / DP World in their sacking of 800 employees in such a cruel and unfair way.

From the moment this came to light I have spoken out in solidarity with those workers and pressed the relevant ministers for answers and reached out to other maritime employees.

On 21st March I spoke in an opposition debate to show my solidarity and compassion for those employees affected. You can listen to my speech here..

I also spoke in the Urgent Question on P&O Ferries in the Chamber to ask for confirmation that the Minister will work to ensure Seafarers will never ever be treated in such a callous and despicable way and I welcomed the new legislation which is being proposed to ensure this never happens again.

Since then, I have spoken with Stena Seafarers who are quite rightly concerned about their jobs, as well as to Stena union representatives, the Maritime Minister and Ian Hampton – Executive Director of Stena Line.

This week I echoed the Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps’ outrage at the treatment of the P&O workers, and I shared his letter to Peter Hebblethwaite, CEO of P&O Ferries across my social media channels.

This letter, which you can read here,  outlines the government’s intention to review all its own contracts with P&O, asking the insolvency service to investigate P&O’s conduct and promises a comprehensive pack of measures being introduced to parliament to ensure that seafarers are protected from similar ever happening again. It also calls for P&O to reverse and drop their redundancy offer deadline of 31st March.

On 28th March I asked the Maritime Minister, Robert Courts MP, to confirm to my constituents that he and the Secretary of State are doing everything they can to ensure P&Os callous and unacceptable behaviour is never to be repeated. You can hear his reply here LINK in which he reassured me that the reason behind taking the time to make an announcement regarding the proposed legislation is to ensure that it is as robust as possible and to:

“Provide the reassurance to others, no matter where they work or who they’re employed by to make sure that their livelihood is secure”

I have spoken with Dave Gwatkin and Mark Harrison seafarers on the Stena Adventurer and hope to meet with them and others in person soon. I will continue to fight not only to bring new investment and job opportunities to our island but also to make sure that those already employed are protected.

Nuclear is vital for the UK’s energy security – and Wylfa is vital for Anglesey job security.

I have campaigned tirelessly to bring nuclear to Anglesey.

My desire for new nuclear power production on Anglesey is about jobs and investment for Anglesey and the UK’s national energy security.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and our exposure to world energy pricing has highlighted that we need our own energy security.

On March 16th, during oral questions to the Treasury in the UK House of Commons I pressed the importance of bringing jobs and investment to our island by capitalising on our potential as “energy island”. I stated how delighted I am to see the Chancellor affirm his commitment to the £120 million “Future Nuclear Enabling” fund. I then sought further commitment from him to publish the criteria and the bidding process to allow us to move at pace in this vital sector.

I am proud to support the five steps put forward by the Nuclear APPG on March 18th to supercharge nuclear delivery in the UK. The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy outlined their five steps to make nuclear happen, ensure energy security and hit net zero:

As Chair of the Nuclear Delivery Group and Chair of the Cross Party APPG on SMRs (Small Modular Reactors) I was pleased to be interviewed on March 21st by Sky News regarding our energy security.

On March 24th I asked Rt Hon Mark Spencer MP, “Will the Minister agree to set aside Government time for a debate on the nuclear APPGs five-point plan?”

In his reply, which you can watch HERE, he confirmed that the government will soon be setting out their British energy security strategy, that the Prime Minister has been clear that nuclear will be crucial in boosting our UK energy security which is why they are investing £210 million to develop small modular reactors.

I am determined to deliver a new nuclear plant at Wylfa. I am determined to bring quality jobs and investment to our Island. And I am determined that nuclear will play its part in delivering net zero.

It is fantastic to see the Wylfa site in my constituency of Ynys Môn getting the recognition it deserves – the Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently visited the area, and there is continued interest from multiple developers.

Now is the time to turn plans into action, guarantee our energy security, and meet our climate change obligations.

Gala Dinner raises over £3,000 for Armed Forces Charity SSAFA

More than 80 guests attended the event at Braids Bistro in Holyhead raising more than £3,000 for the Anglesey branch of the Armed Forces Veterans Charity SSAFA.

The money was raised from a raffle and an auction in which I played the role of auctioneer!

Guests were entertained by a captivating and thought-provoking talk by Flight Sergeant Dai Lawrence on the RAF’s defining moments during World War 2 – the Battle of Britain and the legendary Dambusters raid involving the famous 617 Squadron

This is the latest in a series of events I have hosted to help local charities and organisations. It is important to me to do all I can for our island’s charities, especially as many have struggled during the pandemic.

My next event will be to raise funds for Amlwch Town Football Club at a Curry dinner on Thursday 12th May at Braids Bistro and will be attended by the UK Energy Minister, The Right Honourable Greg Hands MP – You can find out more and book tickets here.

I would love to host future fundraising events right across our island. If you have a venue – and would like to help me raise vital funds for an Anglesey charity – do, please get in touch

Work Starts on new flight training facilities at RAF Valley

Left to Right Geoff Adams, Jon Cowdry, Virginia Crosbie MP, Sean Fenner

I was delighted to be invited to cut the ribbon for construction work to start work on an amazing investment in pilot training at RAF Valley following a £175 million UK government investment at the base.

The new building is part of a contract uplift given to Ascent Flight Training for the Ministry of Defence’s Basic Flying Training operation. It will house new simulators and additional instructors to grow Ascent’s capacity to train additional aircrew over the coming years.

The contract will mean 20 new jobs at the base – an additional 11 flying instructors and nine engineering roles. Basic flying training capacity will increase from 36 to 53 students per year from 2024.

In these uncertain times, having this infrastructure is vital to our national interest and future military capability. I look forward to the building taking shape and being an important part of our defence assets. Pilots who graduate from the training scheme at RAF Valley will be qualified to operate the UK’s most advanced combat aircraft such as the F-35 Lightning and Typhoon.

Constituent's Corner

My new feature ‘Constituent’s Corner’ will highlight some of the people I have helped – from those people themselves. From problems with the DVLA to questions regarding government policies and requests for help from local charities there are a range of areas my team and I can help and support with.

The first in my ‘Constituent’s Corner’ series is from John Hughes who contacted us when having difficulties with renewing his C1 driving licence,

I submitted my application to renew my C1 category on the 8th of August 2021.
When no licence was received by December 2021 and I was unable to contact DVLA, I became worried that this had been mislaid. In January 2022 DVLA admitted that my application had been lost and that a new application would have to be submitted. It was then that I contacted Virginia’s office. The matter was promptly dealt with, and my licence arrived within two weeks.
I cannot thank Virginia and her team enough for sorting this out quickly and efficiently when I thought we would have to cancel our holiday and rearrange our plans.
A big thank you from my wife and I and for all the good work that Virginia does for the community and Anglesey”

I want to help. I want people across Ynys Môn to know that they can contact my office by phone/email, come and meet me in my office or at a surgery or speak with me directly by telephone.  I want to hear from you. I am interested in your ideas and suggestions and helping you with any concerns you may have. Please find my contact details here.

Anne Cragg is my April Hidden Hero

April’s Hidden Hero is Anne Cragg, who is a retired veterinary nurse and runs a cattery in Llangaffo.

Anne has been nominated for dedicating 20 years to taking in sick and injured birds and wildlife. Those nominating Anne say, “her dedication is second to none.”

Anne said

“I was stunned when Virginia Crosbie’s team rang me to say that I had been nominated as a Hidden Hero. I would like to thank all those who put my name forward as someone who has done their best over the years to help injured or orphaned wildlife and re-home unwanted or stray pets.

I would also like to thank those who have given their time to volunteering to help with the day-to-day work looking after the birds and animals and those who have helped financially, especially my loyal helper Barbara who has worked tirelessly over the years.”

Q&A - You Asked...

I receive lots of genuine and thoughtful questions to my inbox and through my social media channels. I really enjoy the interaction of answering them, and so I have launched this Q&A feature within my newsletter.

I am often asked why I voted a certain way in Opposition Day debates. I recently spoke in an Opposition Day debate about the despicable conduct of P&O/DP World towards its staff. You can read my explanation about Opposition Day votes and what they really mean here

There are 20 Opposition Day debates in each session, the topics of these debates are selected by the Opposition and as you would expect the title of the debate is often 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 to embarrass the Government.

Opposition Day debates do have a vote, but it is non-binding (unlike votes that take place on 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 legislation). There is no actual Bill or legislation. No costings or scrutiny via committees or the Lords. They are simply discussions in the Chamber.

The vote at the end of the debate gives the Opposition opportunities for divisive headlines and social media clips saying that I voted against or abstained on something.

The truth is, there was not anything to vote on as there was no legislation.

As your MP I have a limited number of guest tickets available each month I am inviting all my constituents to apply for these tickets, to visit with me and watch PMQs from the gallery. You can do so using the link below.

Cofion cynnes

Argyfwng Dyngarol Wcráin.

Mae’r argyfwng dyngarol a’r rhyfel yn Wcráin yn dal i fynd rhagddo. Mae llywodraeth y DU wedi parhau i ddarparu cymorth economaidd, dyngarol a milwrol amddiffynnol i Wcráin, ac wedi rhoi sancsiynau ar Rwsia a Belarws.

Yn San Steffan, cefais y fraint o gwrdd â Vadym Prystaiko, Llysgennad Wcráin yn Rhif 10 Stryd Downing. Cefais gwrdd hefyd â phedair AS benywaidd o Wcráin, ac wrth gwrs, ro’n i yno yn ystod araith dyngedfennol yr Arlywydd Volodymyr Zelensky yn y Tŷ Cyffredin.

Mae llawer o wasanaethau dangos cefnogaeth deimladwy wedi cael eu cynnal ledled y wlad, gyda Chaergybi a Biwmares a Sant Elaeth oll wedi’u goleuo yn lliwiau Wcráin gan Sain a Goleuo MAD Sound and Lighting

Mae ein hynys yn adnabyddus am ei thosturi a’i hysbryd cymunedol, ac felly does dim syndod fod cymaint wedi bod yn awyddus i helpu.

Yn ystod cynllun Cartrefi i Wcráin llywodraeth y DU, gwnaeth dros 120,000 o bobl gofrestru i helpu rhoi llety i deulu o ffoaduriaid, a chlywais gan lawer o etholwyr megis y Parch. Rob Wardle, arweinydd Tîm Gweinidogaeth Ynys Môn, oedd wedi cynnig ei ficerdy i ffoaduriaid, a James Trew yng Ngwesty Trecastell  ym Mhorth Llechog, wnaeth gynnig llety a swydd i gogydd.

Mae busnesau ein hynys, a hwythau’n fawr neu’n fach, wedi dod at ei gilydd gyda ffyrdd tosturiol, creadigol ac ysbrydoledig o chwarae rhan i helpu’r rhai sydd wedi’u heffeithio. Grŵp lleol yw Pobl i Bobl sy’n cefnogi ffoaduriaid, a hyd yma maent wedi codi £1,400 mewn digwyddiad codi arian a sefydlwyd i helpu sefydliadau ar lawr gwlad sy’n gweithio’n uniongyrchol ar ffin Wcráin yn rhoi cymorth brys.

Penderfynodd staff Caffi Siop Mechell – Llanfechell y bydd unrhyw dips a roir yn cael eu rhoi i apêl Wcráin  yn ogystal ag elw raffl hefyd. Mae Anne a Ray o Jaspersparkle yn rhoi £5 o bob gwerthiant ym mis Mawrth i apêl Wcráin y Groes Goch, a phenderfynodd Happy Valley ym Miwmares roi eu holl dips i’r apêl a threfnu Helfa Wyau Pasg hefyd. Wrth gwrs, mae llu o enghreifftiau ardderchog eraill.

Mae ysgolion, grwpiau cymunedol ac elusennau wedi dod at ei gilydd i gasglu a rhoi eitemau sydd wire u hangen ar ffoaduriaid. Anfonodd siop Elusen Twrcelyn – Elusen Care UK gynhwysydd yn llawn cymorth brys, gyda help Colin o Anglesey Towing aeth ag e fi Gaer, lle bydd yn mynd yn syth i Wlad Pwyl.

Os hoffech helpu drwy noddi ffoadur neu deulu o Wcráin, cofrestrwch ar wefan #cartrefiWcrain llywodraeth y DU yma <https://homesforukraine.campaign.gov.uk/>

Os hoffech roi arian – mae’r DEC – Pwyllgor Argyfwng Trychineb – yn cydlynu ymdrechion dros 15 o elusennau gan gynnwys y Groes Goch ac Achub y Plant. Mae’r holl fanylion ar gael yma.

Bydd Bil newydd llywodraeth y DU yn helpu i wella gwasanaeth ffonau symudol 4 a 5G ar Ynys Môn

Ers dod yn AS ar gyfer Ynys Môn, rwyf wedi trafod y broblem cysylltedd gwael a band-eang y mae fy etholwyr yn ei hwynebu yn gyson. Y mis yma, es i ddigwyddiad a drefnwyd gan Speed Up Britain yn San Steffan, ac ar ôl y digwyddiad, rwy’n falch o gefnogi’r Bil Seilwaith Diogelwch Cynnyrch a Thelegyfathrebu. Mae’r Bil yn cynnwys newidiadau i’r Côd Cyfathrebu Trydanol i gyflymu cyflwyniad 4G a 5G mewn lleoedd fel Ynys Môn, a gall hyn rhoi hwb sylweddol i’r economi lleol.

Bydd cefnogi’r bil yn galluogi gwelliannau cynt ar Ynys Môn drwy’r Rhwydwaith Gwledig a Rennir, y mae disgwyl iddo gynnig gwasanaeth 4G i 95% o’r DU, a thechnoleg 5G y genhedlaeth nesaf. Mae’r pandemig wedi amlygu pa mor bwysig yw cysylltedd symudol i filoedd o breswylwyr a busnesau ledled Ynys Môn, ac mae gwasanaeth gwael yn rhwystredig iawn. Mae gwella’r seilwaith yn flaenoriaeth, a bydd hefyd yn denu swyddi a buddsoddiad i’n hynys. Edrychaf ymlaen at gefnogi’r Bil, a drwy lwc, bydd yn rhoi newidiadau ar waith cyn gynted ag sy’n bosibl.

Os oes gennych broblemau cysylltedd neu wasanaeth, rhowch wybod i mi drwy lenwi’r “Arolwg Band-eang Gwell” ar fy ngwefan – Arolwg Band-eang Gwell – Virginia Crosbie AS

Darllen Alfie and the Dragon i Ysgol Caergeiliog ar Ddiwrnod y Llyfr

Ro’n i wrth fy modd o allu bod yn Ysgol Gynradd Caergeiliog drwy “zoom” o San Steffan i ddarllen Alfie and the Dragon i flynyddoedd 1, 2 a 3 ar gyfer Diwrnod y Llyfr. Mae awdur y llyfr, Tony Roberts, yn dod o’r ynys ac mae’n trafod stori Alfie, bachgen ifanc sy’n credu ei bod hi’n bosibl bod dreigiau’n byw ym Mynydd Tân, Caergybi.

Roedd hi’n wych gweld yr holl blant yn gwisgo gwisgoedd o’u hoff lyfrau, ac roedden nhw’n holi’n llawer o gwestiynau o fywyd yn San Steffan i sut rydw i’n hoffi fy nghrempogau. Mae Diwrnod y Llyfr yn ddigwyddiad pwysig iawn. Mae cariad at ddarllen yn rhywbeth sy’n para oes, a drwy lwc, bydd fy mrwdfrydedd wedi sbarduno cariad o’r fath ymysg y plant wnaeth wrando’n astud ar y stori. Cefais amser da iawn, a hoffwn ddiolch i’r disgyblion a’r staff am roi croeso cynnes imi!

Diwrnod Rhyngwladol y Menywod, SheInspires a chael fy enwi yn un o “fenywod addawol” yn San Steffan.

Roedd hi’n Ddiwrnod Rhyngwladol y Menywod ddydd Mawrth, 8 Mawrth, diwrnod i dalu teyrnged i lwyddiannau diwylliannol, gwleidyddol a chymdeithasol-economaidd menywod. Ar fy nghyfrifon cyfryngau cymdeithasol, bues i’n dathlu gyda rhai o fenywod a merched ysbrydoledig ein hynys mewn fideo, a gallwch wylio’r fideo. O gyfranogwyr Pasiant Macy Gracy, Layla Grace a Poppy i wirfoddolwyr ac arwyr cymunedol fel Jean Mayall, Debbie Carmichael ac Anne Williams – rydych chi i gyd yn anhygoel!

Mae’r dathliad blynyddol yn canu clod llwyddiannau anhygoel menywod mewn bywyd cyhoeddus drwy gydnabod cant o fenywod sydd wedi rhagori yn eu sector ym myd San Steffan, ac 15 o arweinwyr y dyfodol.

Yn ogystal i hynny, ro’n i hefyd yn falch iawn o gael fy enwi yn un o lysgenhadon Gwobrau SheInspires 2022. Mae’r gwobrau SheInspires yn dathlu menywod o bob cefndir ac o bob rhan o’r DU a’r byd. O ymuno â Phwyllgor Menywod a Chydraddoldeb ym mis Mawrth 2020 a bod yn Gyfarwyddwr Women2Win, yn ogystal â sefydlu “Make It Your Business” i ysbrydoli menywod ar Ynys Môn i fod yn fentrus, rwyf wedi bod yn gefnogwr brwd o rymuso ac annog menywod a chyfle cyfartal ers tro.

P&O i gael eu dal i gyfrif

Rydym oll wedi cael ein synnu gan weithredoedd ffiaidd P&O / DP World yn diswyddo 800 o weithwyr mewn ffordd mor greulon ac annheg.

O’r eiliad y daeth hyn yn wybodaeth gyhoeddus, rwyf wedi codi llais a chefnogi’r gweithwyr hynny ac wedi rhoi pwysau ar y gweinidogion perthnasol i gael atebion. Rwyf hefyd wedi cysylltu â gweithwyr morol eraill.

Ar 21 Mawrth, siaradais mewn dadl wrthbleidiol i ddangos f’undod a’m tosturi dros y gweithwyr sydd wedi cael eu heffeithio. Gallwch wrando ar fy araith yma.

Siaradais hefyd yn y Cwestiwn Brys ar P&O Ferries yn y Siambr i ofyn am gadarnhad y bydd y Gweinidog yn gweithio’n galed i sicrhau na fydd Morwyr fyth yn cael eu trin mewn ffordd mor ffiaidd eto, ac ro’n i’n croesawu’r cynnig o ddeddfwriaeth newydd i wneud yn siŵr na fydd hyn yn digwydd eto.

Ers hynny, rwyf wedi siarad â Morwyr Stena, sy’n amlwg yn poeni am eu swyddi, a chynrychiolwyr undeb Stena, y Gweinidog Morol ac Ian Hampton – Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol Stena Line.

Yr wythnos hon, efelychais ddirmyg Grant Shapps, Ysgrifennydd Gwladol Trafnidiaeth, am y ffordd yr oedd gweithwyr P&O wedi cael eu trin, a rhannais y llythyr hwn gyda Peter Hebblethwaite, Prif Swyddog Gweithredol P&O Ferries ar lawer o’m platfformau cyfryngau cymdeithasol.

Mae’r llythyr hwn, sydd ar gael yma, yn amlinellu bwriad y llywodraeth i adolygu ei holl gontractau ei hun gyda P&O, yn gofyn i’r gwasanaeth methdaliadau archwilio ymddygiad P&O ac yn addo pecyn cynhwysfawr o fesurau i gael eu cyflwyno i’r senedd i sicrhau bod morwyr yn cael eu hamddiffyn rhag rhywbeth fel hyn yn digwydd eto. Mae hefyd yn galw ar P&O i droi yn ôl a diystyru dyddiad cau y cynnig diswyddo, sef 31 Mawrth.

Ar 28 Mawrth, gofynnais i’r Gweinidog Morol, Robert Courts AS, i gadarnhau i f’etholwyr ei fod ef a’r Ysgrifennydd Gwladol yn gwneud popeth hyd eu gallu i sicrhau na fydd ymddygiad annerbyniol a brwnt P&O yn cael ei ailadrodd fyth. Gallwch glywed ei ymateb yma DOLEN lle rhoddodd sicrwydd i mi mai’r rheswm dros gymryd cryn dipyn o amser cyn cyhoeddi’r ddeddfwriaeth arfaethedig yw er mwyn sicrhau ei bod mor gadarn ag sy’n bosibl a:

“Rhoi sicrwydd i eraill, waeth ble maen nhw’n gweithio neu i bwy maen nhw’n gweithio, i sicrhau bod eu bywoliaeth yn saff”

Rwyf wedi siarad â Dave Gwatkin a Mark Harrison, morwyr ar Stena Adventurer, a gyda lwc byddaf yn cwrdd â nhw wyneb yn wyneb cyn bo hir. Byddaf yn parhau â’r frwydr nid yn unig i ddenu buddsoddiad newydd a chyfleoedd am swyddi i’n hynys, ond hefyd i sicrhau bod y rhai sydd eisoes mewn gwaith yn cael eu hamddiffyn.

Mae ynni niwclear yn hanfodol i ddiogelwch ynni y DU - ac mae Wylfa yn hanfodol i ddiogelwch swyddi ar Ynys Môn.

Rwyf wedi ymgyrchu’n ddiflino dros ddod ag ynni niwclear i Ynys Môn.

Mae’r dyhead i gynhyrchu pŵer niwclear newydd ar Ynys Môn yn ymwneud â swyddi a buddsoddiadau i Ynys Môn, a diogelwch ynni y DU.

Mae ymgyrch Putin yn Wcráin a phrisiau ynni y byd wedi amlygu fod angen diogelwch ynni ein hun arnom.

Ar 16 Mawrth, yn ystod cwestiynau ar lafar i’r Trysorlys yn Nhŷ’r Cyffredin y DU pwysleisiais pa mor bwysig yw denu swyddi a buddsoddiad i’n hynys drwy fanteisio ar ein potensial fel “ynys ynni”. Nodais pa mor falch ydw i o weld y Canghellor yn cadarnhau ei ymrwymiad i’r gronfa “Galluogi Niwclear i’r Dyfodol” gwerth £120 miliwn. Yna, ceisiais ragor o ymrwymiad ganddo i gyhoeddi’r meini prawf a’r broses fidio, er mwyn i ni allu symud ymlaen yn gyflym yn y sector hanfodol hwn.

Rwy’n falch o gefnogi’r pum cam a gyflwynwyd gan yr APPG Niwclear ar 18 Mawrth i gyflymu cyflawniad niwclear yn y DU. Amlinellodd y Grŵp Seneddol Holl-bleidiol ar Ynni Niwclear y pum cam a fydd yn sicrhau ynni niwclear, sicrhau diogelwch ynni a chyflawni sero net:

  • Bod yn uchelgeisiol
  • Sicrhau bod y cyllid yn gywir
  • Cyflymu amserlenni prosiectau
  • Rhoi mynediad i dir i ddatblygwyr
  • Cefnogi datblygiad prosiectau

Fel Cadeirydd y Grŵp Cyflawni Ynni Niwclear a Chadeirydd yr APPG Traws-bleidiol ar SMRau (Adweithyddion Modiwlaidd Bychan) ro’n i’n falch o gael fy nghyfweld ar 21 Mawrth gan Sky New ynghylch ein diogelwch ynni.

Ar 24 Mawrth, gofynnais i’r Gwir Anrhydeddus Mark Spencer AS, “A fydd y Gweinidog yn cytuno neilltuo amser y llywodraeth ar gyfer dadl ar gynllun pum cam yr APPG niwclear?”

Yn ei ymateb, y gallwch ei wylio YMA, cadarnhaodd y bydd y llywodraeth cyn bo hir yn nodi eu strategaeth diogelwch ynni Prydain. Mae’r Prif Weinidog wedi bod yn glir y bydd ynni niwclear yn hanfodol o ran rhoi hwb i ddiogelwch ynni y DU, a dyna pam maen nhw’n buddsoddi £210 miliwn i ddatblygu adweithyddion modiwlaidd bychan.

Rwy’n benderfynol o gyflawni ffatri ynni niwclear newydd yn Wylfa. Rwy’n benderfynol o ddenu swyddi o safon uchel a buddsoddiad i’n hynys, ac rwy’n benderfynol y bydd ynni niwclear yn chwarae rhan o ran cyflawni sero net.

Mae’n wych gweld safle Wylfa yn fy etholaeth i, Ynys Môn, yn cael y sylw y mae’n ei haeddu – bu i’r Prif Weinidog Boris Johnson ymweld â’r ardal yn ddiweddar, ac mae diddordeb parhaus gan sawl datblygwr.

Bellach mae hi’n amser rhoi cynlluniau ar waith, gwarantu ein diogelwch ynni a bodloni ein hymrwymiadau newid hinsawdd.

Swper Gala yn codi dros £3,000 i Elusen y Lluoedd Arfog, SSAFA

Bu i dros 80 o westeion ddod i’r digwyddiad yn Braids Bistro yng Nghaergybi, gan godi dros £3,000 i gangen Ynys Môn yr elusen Cyn-filwyr y Lluoedd Arfog, SSAFA.

Cafodd yr arian ei godi mewn raffl ac ociswn, a fi oedd yn chwarae rhan yr arwerthwr!

Cafodd y gwesteion eu diddanu gan sgwrs hynod ddiddorol gyda Sarsiant Hedfan Dai Lawrence ar adegau arwyddocaol yr RAF yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd – Brwydr Prydain a’r cyrch Dambusters yn cynnwys yr enwog Sgwadron 617.

Y digwyddiad yma oedd y diweddaraf mewn cyfres o ddigwyddiadau yr wyf wedi’u cynnal i helpu elusennau a sefydliadau lleol. Mae’n bwysig iawn i mi wneud popeth o fewn fy ngallu i elusennau ein hynys, yn enwedig gan fod cymaint wedi’i chael hi’n anodd iawn yn ystod y pandemig.

Bydd y digwyddiad nesaf yn codi arian ar gyfer Clwb Pêl-droed Tref Amlwch mewn noson Gyri, nos Iau 12 Mai yn Braids Bistro, a bydd Gweinidog Ynni y DU, y Gwir Anrhydeddus Greg Hands AS yno ar y noson – Gallwch gael gwybod mwy a phrynu tocynnau yma.

Byddem yn falch iawn o gynnal digwyddiadau codi arian yn y dyfodol ym mhob rhan o’n hynys. Os oes gennych leoliad – ac os hoffech i mi helpu i godi arian i elusen ar Ynys Môn – cysylltwch ar bob cyfrif

Gwaith yn dechrau ar gyfleusterau hyfforddiant hedfan newydd yn RAF y Fali

Ro’n i’n falch iawn o gael gwahoddiad i dorri’r rhuban er mwyn i waith adeiladu ddechrau ar fuddsoddiad ardderchog i hyfforddiant peilotiaid yn RAF y Fali yn dilyn buddsoddiad gan lywodraeth y DU gwerth £175 miliwn yn y lleoliad.

Mae’r adeilad newydd yn rhan o ddiweddariad contract a roddwyd i Ascent Flight Trining yn rhan o weithrediad Hyfforddiant Hedfan Sylfaenol y Weinyddiaeth Amddiffyn. Bydd yn gartref i efelychiadau newydd a hyfforddwyr ychwanegol er mwyn cynyddu capasiti Ascent i hyfforddi criw hedfan ychwanegol yn y blynyddoedd i ddod.

Bydd y contract yn golygu 20 o swyddi newydd yn y lleoliad – 11 o hyfforddwyr hedfan ychwanegol a naw swydd beirianneg. Bydd capasiti hyfforddiant hedfan sylfaenol yn cynyddu o 36 o fyfyrwyr i 53 o fyfyrwyr bob blwyddyn o 2024 ymlaen.

Yn y cyfnod digynsail hwn, mae sicrhau seilwaith o’r fath yn hanfodol i’n budd cenedlaethol a’n gallu milwrol i’r dyfodol. Edrychaf ymlaen at yr adeilad yn datblygu a bod yn rhan bwysig o’n hasedau amddiffyn. Bydd peilotiaid sy’n graddio o’r cynllun hyfforddiant yn RAF y Fali yn gymwys i weithio ar awyrennau brwydr penigamp y DU, megis yr F-35 Lightning a Typhoon.

Cornel Etholwyr

Bydd yr adran newydd ‘Cornel Etholwyr’ yn taflu golau ar rai o’r bobl rydw i wedi’u helpu – a’r bobl eu hunain fydd yn adrodd yr hanes. O broblemau gyda’r DVLA i gwestiynau ynghylch polisïau a cheisiadau am gymorth gan elusennau lleol, mae ystod eang o feysydd y gallaf i a’r tîm helpu gyda nhw.

Y cyntaf yn y gyfres ‘Cornel Etholwyr’ yw John Hughes, wnaeth gysylltu â ni pan roedd e’n cael trafferthion  yn adnewyddu ei drwydded yrru C1,

Cyflwynais fy nghais i adnewyddu fy nhrwydded categori C1 ar 8 Awst 2021.
Pan nad oeddwn wedi derbyn y drwydded erbyn mis Rhagfyr 2021, a chan na lwyddais i gysylltu â DVLA, ro’n i’n poeni fod y cais wedi mynd ar goll. Ym mis Ionawr 2022, cyfaddefodd DVLA fod y cais wedi mynd ar goll ac y byddai’n rhaid imi anfon cais newydd. Bryd hynny, cysylltais â swyddfa Virginia. Cafodd y broblem ei datrys yn brydlon, a chyrhaeddodd y drwydded o fewn pythefnos.
Hoffwn ddiolch o galon i Virginia a’i thîm am sortio’r broblem yn gyflym ac yn effeithlon, pan roeddwn i’n dechrau meddwl y byddai angen canslo ein gwyliau ac ail-drefnu pethau.
Diolch yn fawr i chi gen i a’m gwraig am yr holl waith da y mae Virginia yn ei wneud yn y gymuned ac ar Ynys Môn”

Rwy’n awyddus i helpu. Rwyf am i bobl o bob rhan o Ynys Môn wybod y gallant gysylltu â’r swyddfa dros y ffôn/e-bost, dod i gwrdd â mi yn y swyddfa neu mewn cymhorthfa neu siarad â mi’n uniongyrchol dros y ffôn. Hoffwn glywed gennych chi. Mae gen i ddiddordeb yn eich syniadau a’ch awgrymiadau a’ch helpu chi gydag unrhyw bryderon allai fod gennych chi. Anne Cragg yw Arwr Cudd Mis Ebrill

Arwr Cudd Mis Ebrill yw Anne Cragg, sy’n gyn-nyrs filfeddygol ac sy’n rhedeg cathdy yn Llangaffo.

Mae Anne wedi cael ei henwebu am dreulio ugain mlynedd o’i bywyd yn rhoi llety i adar a bywyd gwyllt wedi anafu. Dywedodd y rhai wnaeth enwebu Anne, “does dim dwywaith ei bod wedi ymrwymo i hyn.”

Dywedodd Anne

“Ro’n i wedi synnu pan ffoniodd tîm Virginia Crosbie i roi gwybod imi fy mod wedi cael f’enwebu yn Arwr Cudd. Hoffwn ddiolch i bawb wnaeth fy enwebu fel rhywun sydd wedi gwneud ei gorau glas dros y blynyddoedd i helpu bywyd gwyllt wedi anafu neu wedi’u gadael ar ôl, a rhoi ail-gartref i anifeiliaid anwes strae.

Hoffwn ddiolch hefyd i’r rhai sydd wedi rhoi o’u hamser yn gwirfoddoli i helpu gyda’r gwaith bob dydd o edrych ar ôl yr anifeiliaid a’r adar, a’r rhai sydd wedi helpu’n ariannol, yn enwedig fy helpwr ffyddlon, Barbara, sydd wedi gweithio’n ddi-flino dros y blynyddoedd.”

Holi ac Ateb -Eich cyfle i ofyn....

Yn aml, mae pobl yn gofyn imi pam y gwnes i bleidleisio mewn ffordd benodol yn y dadleuon Diwrnod Gwrthbleidiau. Siaradais yn ddiweddar mewn dadl Diwrnod Gwrthbleidiau am ymddygiad ffiaidd P&O/DP World tuag at ei staff. Gallwch ddarllen fy eglurhad am bleidleisiau Diwrnod Gwrthbleidiau a beth maen nhw’n ei olygu mewn gwirionedd yma

Mae 20 o ddadleuon Diwrnod Gwrthbleidiau ym mhob sesiwn, a’r Wrthblaid sy’n dewis pynciau’r dadleuon hyn ac fel y byddech chi’n disgwyl, mae teitl y ddadl yn aml yn gynhennus ar bwrpas er mwyn codi cywilydd ar y Llywodraeth.

Mae gan ddadleuon y Diwrnod Gwrthbleidiau bleidlais, ond nid yw’n rhwymol (oni bai am bleidleisiau sy’n cael eu cynnal ar ddeddfwriaeth go iawn). Does dim Bil neu ddeddfwriaeth go iawn. Dim costiadau neu graffu gan bwyllgorau neu Arglwyddi. Y cwbl ydyn nhw yw trafodaethau yn y Siambr.

Mae’r bleidlais ar ddiwedd y ddadl yn rhoi cyfle i’r Wrthblaid greu penawdau cynhennus a chlipiau ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol yn dweud fy mod wedi pleidleisio yn erbyn rhywbeth neu wedi ymatal.

Y gwir amdani yw nad oedd unrhyw beth i bleidleisio drosto gan fod dim deddfwriaeth.

Y Chwyddwydr Lleol

Llongyfarchiadau i’r awdur o Ynys Môn, Samantha Fisher, y mae ei llyfr newydd “Base Fear: Deadly Secrets”, yn dweud hanes Paige Daniels, merch filwrol powld o Loegr y mae ei theulu’n cael eu lleoli yn Ynys Môn. Mae’r llyfr yn defnyddio profiadau personol Samantha fel gwraig filwrol yn RAF y Fali.

Llongyfarchiadau i Jaspersparkle- modrwyau Silverspoon wnaeth ennill yn y categori “Celf a Chreadigol Gorau” yng “Ngwobrau Busnesau Gorau Cymru 2022” yng Nghaerdydd dros y penwythnos.

Hoffwn ddymuno pob lwc i dîm rheoli newydd The Boathouse Hotel yng Nghaergybi gyda’u menter newydd wrth iddo fynd o nerth i nerth. Roedd Wild Hospitality, cwmni sbardun Wild Elements, menter gymdeithasol nid er elw lleol wedi ymrwymo i gael pobl Gogledd Cymru allan yn yr awyr agored a’u cysylltu gyda natur, gan wella eu bywydau, eu cyfleoedd a’u dyheadau. Mae’r gangen lletygarwch newydd yn gobeithio gwneud yr un peth drwy gysylltu’r rhain â Chaergybi a thu hwnt, gan greu hwb cymunedol a gwesty wedi’u hadeiladu gan ddefnyddio adnoddau cynaliadwy a lleol yn unig.

Yn gynt ym mis Mawrth, bu i RNLI Bae Trearddur dorri tir newydd drwy ddod yr orsaf gyntaf erioed i ennill Medal Dewrder Arian am weithred achub ar fad achub Dosbarth B Atlantic 85. Rhoddwyd gwobr arobryn arian yr elusen i’r llywiwr, Lee Duncan, i gydnabod ei arweinyddiaeth, morwriaeth a’i ffordd wych o drin bad mewn amodau morol a thywydd erchyll. Dyfarnwyd Medalau Efydd i’r criw o wirfoddolwyr Dafydd Griffiths, Leigh McCann a Michael Doran, gan gydnabod eu dewrder a’u hanhunanoldeb yn ystod y weithred achub anodd. Llongyfarchiadau mawr i’r holl griw – rydych chi’n ysbrydoliaeth!

Dweud eich dweud...

Mae’r e-gylchlythyr rhad ac am ddim hwn yn rhan bwysig o’m hatebolrwydd yn fy rôl fel eich cynrychiolydd etholedig yn San Steffan.

Rwy’n awyddus i sicrhau ei fod yn rhoi’r wybodaeth yr ydych chi ei hangen, ac felly rwy’n gofyn am eich sylwadau ar y cynnwys a’r ffordd mae’n cael ei ddylunio.

Mae croeso i chi ddefnyddio’r ddolen isod i roi eich adborth, er mwyn sicrhau bod fy e-gylchlythyr yn well fyth ar gyfer Ynys Môn.
