Thank you for contacting me about the measures implemented to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although this is a devolved matter, as both a resident of Anglesey and its Member of Parliament, I take considerable concern about the measures implemented to control the spread of this invisible, yet deadly enemy.
I closely monitor the changes to the measures, and where they seem to contradict the evidence available, I am sure to raise the issue with my colleagues and write to the First Minister when appropriate. However, the current circumstances around the United Kingdom have made it clear that action is necessary to combat the virus and its new variants whilst we await the effect of the vaccine roll-out. As a result, I support the lockdown measures in place both in England and Wales. I am also pleased that travel between the two nations is not allowed to prevent the spread from areas with higher numbers of cases.
I understand that these restrictions have cost us all dearly and that many are looking forward to their end, however, they are necessary in order to save thousands of lives that could be lost without them.
I will continue to monitor the situation closely and take action when necessary.
