A PPS is an unpaid role in Government designed to help Ministers and Secretaries of State to keep Parliamentarians updated on their Department’s work. The role serves to better communicate the work of Government to Parliament and increase Ministerial accountability.
I was honoured to be asked in February 2020 to serve as PPS to Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, and Health Ministers in Boris Johnson’s Government. Serving as PPS in the Health Department at the height of the Coronavirus crisis has given me an invaluable insight in order to scrutinise the health and social care process here in Wales, managed by the Welsh Government.
The PPS role takes up a small portion of my time at Westminster, and I am fully committed and accessible to my constituents on Ynys Môn at all times.
