for Ynys Môn
i Ynys Môn
I am dedicated to social mobility and empowering others – and securing more jobs for Anglesey is where I’ll start.
As a maths teacher I am committed to ensuring young people have the same opportunities I enjoyed. I have a working class background and grammar school education. I was the first person in my family to stay at school beyond the age of 16. My grandfather was a miner for 47 years and my mother worked in a jam factory. Following a distinguished career at GlaxoWellcome where I worked on the production of Interferon, UBS where I was one of the youngest Directors in UBS history and HSBC where I won awards as a leading pharmaceutical analyst – I retrained as a teacher.
I live with my husband, our three children and our cocker spaniel Violet. We enjoy exploring and dog walks as a family. The outdoor life is important to us and we enjoy being part of a community – which is why we love living here on Anglesey.
I want everyone on Ynys Môn to have the same opportunities as I had to succeed in life. That’s why I’ll be your local champion for jobs, skilled employment and investment. I want our young people to aspire to a future here on the island. The next generation is key to keeping our communities together and the Welsh language alive. My goal is to be a voice for those that have no voice and to make tomorrow a better day for as many people as possible.
