Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie zoomed into Caergeiliog Foundation School in Holyhead from Westminster yesterday to read Alfie and the Dragon to years 1, 2 and 3 for World Book Day.
The book written by island author Tony Roberts features the tale of Alfie, a young boy who believes there could be dragons living in the Mynydd Tân of Caergybi.
“All the children were dressed in costumes from their favourite books and were full of questions about everything from life at Westminster to how I like my pancakes,” said Virginia.
“I had a brilliant time reading the story and I would like to thank the children and the staff for such a warm welcome. I was only sorry I couldn’t be there in person.
“World Book Day is a really important event. The love of reading is something that lasts a lifetime and I hope my appearance even remotely will spark that love in the children who listened so intently to the story.”
School head Richard Williams thanked Virginia for taking the time to read the book.
“We would be more than happy for Virginia to visit us here at Caergeiliog Foundation School in the future,” he said.
