February’s Hidden Hero is James Morgan (aka Rozzy) who heads up the Local Conversation Project at Môn CF in Holyhead.
Not only is Rozzy an all-round top guy, he is also the person co-ordinating my Mental Health 100 campaign – ensuring that those who want training can receive it.
In his role as Local Conversation Officer, if a member of the community has an idea for the town or wants to see a change, then he will help to try and make it possible.
One idea was to start a walking group for men with mental health issues. The Walking Group received attention from BBC Cymru Fyw and, before the current lockdown, had 21 members. For that group of men, the Thursday morning walk provided much-needed activity in a very strange world. Members are now looking forward to restrictions being lifted a little so that the walks can resume.
Amongst his many other contributions to the local community, Rozzy has also been doing prescription and shopping collection and delivery throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rozzy told us: “I’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing people on the island, from helping children across Anglesey wake up with a gift on Christmas morning to helping those in need who have been struggling during these lockdowns. If there’s a way I can help someone in need I will do what I can for them.
“I was shocked to receive the nomination as a hidden hero, I’m just someone who’s always happy to help others.”
